Stacey

My name is Stacey. I was diagnosed with GT when I was about 3 years old. Of course in thoses days they knew little about the condition. I was always covered in bruses cuts would take a long time to bleed. School was always a struggle to go to. I couldn't be in much sports. The only sport I loved was Swimming. But I don't really have much to be mad about. I'm still alive that's all that matters. There was times in my life that were not looking so good. One time I had a really bad nosebleed and there was one thing of platelets for my blood type. And the doctors had to choose who to give it to. Me or another sick kid. I got it. Without it I probally wouldn't be here today. Well now that I'm older I don't really seem to have all the problems that I used to have when I was a kid. I don't get nosebleed that often. My last bad one was a couple of years ago. I do get small ones but they stop. I still bruse easly. I prettywell live a normal life.

Advice
To stop nosebleeds: don't let it bleed forever. try to stop it. You can hold ice on the nose that will slow the flow.

Also in a nose bleed DO NOT TAKE OUT THE CLOT. Leave it in there. If it has stoped the nose bleed do not take the clot out. At least for a day or so. And when taking the clot out. Have a hot shower and let the water run on your face. Do not pull the clot out when it is dry or it will start bleeding. I learned that from lots of experience.
